Bold Opening: Adventureland is leveling up this year, and the changes are bigger than ever—three brand-new rides, two fresh midway games, and a major park-wide revamp that reshapes the entire footprint.
Adventureland in Farmingdale, a 64-year-old staple, is gearing up to reopen on March 20 for the 2026 season. The park will debut three new rides and two new midway games as part of a multi-year, multi-phase $10 million redevelopment that began in 2024. Officials are aiming to finish the full plan even sooner than the original 2028 target.
New sections and space changes
During a hiatus since late October, the park undertook renovations to accommodate the new attractions and expand offerings. A key change is relocating and expanding into what is now Legacy Corner, reconfiguring space previously occupied by the old log flume. Adventure Falls—the log flume that closed at the end of 2024—and the Moon Chaser thrill ride have been removed to free up 45,000 square feet for the upcoming developments.
Legacy Corner marks a central hub for the new lineup, which includes two newly added midway games and the forthcoming rides. Moon Chaser, added in 2024 as part of the redevelopment, was intended as a short-term feature and is being repurposed as part of the broader plan.
Phase-by-phase redevelopment overview
Phase 1 (completed 2024): adult pirate ship ride introduced, log flume removed, Legacy Corner opened with Moon Chaser, a galaxy-themed thrill ride, and the wellness center rebranded.
Phases 2–3 (2025–26): ongoing work with new Wave Twister ride, two new games (Wave Blaster and Jungle Run), a redesigned prize collection, Legacy Bites concession stand, and two additional attractions planned for this stage.
Phases 4–5 (2027–28): details to be announced as the project progresses.
New attractions and offerings
Wave Twister, built by Ride Engineers Switzerland, is a rotating, wave-themed coaster-like ride that seats 12 passengers per circular car and tilts side to side to simulate a surfing motion. Though it has a thrill edge, it’s designed to be accessible for younger guests. Note: Wave Twister isn’t ready for opening weekend but is expected to debut in the spring.
Also debuting this spring is The Ram, a German-made Huss Park Attractions adaptation of the traditional pirate ship. The Ram brings back the familiar swinging ride with a fresh, college-team-inspired theme tied to SUNY Farmingdale Rams, while preserving some pirate aesthetics to keep broad appeal.
Legacy Corner expands with two new midway games:
- Wave Blaster, a water-target shooting game that lights up targets as you hit them.
- Jungle Run, a ball-rolling challenge where players aim to traverse a board and advance an animal across to the far side.
A new food stand, Legacy Bites, will serve snack favorites in bite-sized formats—think jumbo pretzels, churros, chicken tenders with fries, and other convenient treats.
A new carousel taking center stage
Replacing the existing carousel near the birthday party entrance, a new Bertazzon double-decker carousel will be installed. It will be handicap accessible and accommodate up to 60 riders at once. The ride will retain a Venetian-inspired look and will feature a broader mix of animals to ride, including a tiger, lion, zebra, giraffe, and panda, alongside traditional horses.
